The first time I read this particular Psalm I was on a trip. My husband and I had flown to the East Coast and it was my first trip to Boston, I was in prayer and read this scripture and felt as if God was speaking directly to me. I felt as if He was saying to me, “Look, you’ve flown all this way and here I am with you!” I hope you feel the same way when you read God’s written Word to you. His Word in the Bible is meant for you. Read it as a personal letter to you. As George Martin said in his book, Reading Scripture as the Word of God, “Do not treat Scripture as a letter addressed to, Dear Occupant but as a letter addressed personally to you.” No matter where you are, God is present with you. That is why He is present with you. That is why He is called Immanuel because the word means, “God with us.” When you feel as if you don’t know what to do or where to go from here, imagine God taking you by the hand. He will never let you go. He loves you.
