This prayer is a promise from God, our Father, because of the salvific work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. He is the anointed one sent by our Father to create a clean heart in each one of us and give us His Holy Spirit to renew us and give us eternal life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “For anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here.” No matter how hard we would try, because of our fallen nature we could never save ourselves from eternal damnation. We needed a Savior. Jesus created a new heart in each one of us when He died on the Cross for us and washed us clean with His precious blood. When He was pierced for our sins, blood and water poured forth. The blood was given to wash us clean and the water of the Holy Spirit was given to renew us. I use too think my sin was to great to be forgiven then I realized I was walking in the sin of pride to think my sin was so great that it was too much for Jesus’ blood to wash away. No sin is greater than the blood of Jesus. When you ask Him to forgive anything He forgives you and purifies you. 1 John 1:9-2:2.
