When I was a young girl of fourteen years of age, my daddy wanted me to learn to drive a car I didn’t want to learn. I was afraid and had many excuses for him. Still he made me get behind the wheel and drive. What an adventure it has been! When I did learn to drive I realized I needed to follow signs. I needed to watch the road and make sure that I stayed on my side of the road and obeyed all the driving laws.
As long as I kept my eyes on that white line, I discovered that I easily stayed on my side of the road and I didn’t crash into someone or something else. In our journey as Christians it is the same, we must keep the Lord before us at all time. He’s our white line and our sign to follow. We’ll always know which way to go if we follow Jesus, and “He will lead us in paths of righteousness for His name sake.” Psalm 23:3 It is when we follow Jesus that the joy of the adventure begins. Many of us are reluctant to follow Jesus. We’re afraid of where He might lead. Yes, we’re afraid of suffering or that something might happen that is out of our control. Because Jesus is with us, at our right hand, no matter where our journey takes us, it will be an adventure and it will be well.
