“I answer everyone who calls on Me.” Psalm 91:15

Writer: Angie LakeAngie Lake

Even though I had invited Jesus into my heart I yearned for more of Him.  I went to Conferences, Seminars, Speaker Luncheons and any place where I could hear more about God and be in fellowship with other believers.  I wanted everything of God.  I had shared with some of my friends, “I want the gifts of the Holy Spirit, things like wisdom and prophecy, but not the gift of tongues.

I had read in Scripture that Tongues is the least of the gifts, and I want the best.”  I changed my mind.  I read a book called, How to Live like a King’s Kid by Harold Hill, and I said, “That’s it! I want what he has!”  It came about that when I shared with my sister that I wanted the Holy Spirit, she said, “Angie, you have the Holy Spirit.”  Well, I assured her I wanted it like Harold Hill.  When he laid hands on the sick they fell over and were healed, and all kinds of things happened.  He prayed in tongues and prophesied.  He had gifts of discernment and I wanted all that too!  My sister laid hands on me and I asked Jesus to baptize me in the name of His Holy Spirit.  Actually I felt nothing and thought, “That’s it?”

The next day I was at my prayer place and was compelled to open my mouth and praise God and there at my kitchen table all by myself I began to praise God in tongues.  Yielding myself to God and asking Him to fill me with His Holy Spirit has been so life-changing to me that it would take volumes to share all God has done for me.  I know this, when we called in the Lord, God answers in was we can never imagine.  No one can out do God in love and generosity.  “Eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him!” 1 Corinthians 2:9  We can always expect God will hear us and answer us.  We don’t know what His answer may be, but we can be assured it will lead to Blessings in our lives.
