Healing from Inner Vows
(by Angie Lake)

Our goal as God’s holy people is to unite our will with the will of the Father (we pray this in the Lord’s Prayer and in the way He taught us – Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven!)

That seems pretty simple – except at times we make an Inner Vow that sets us against the will of God.  It closes us off to God’s mercy in that area of our life because we have taken our will and said:  “I will not……”  whatever statement we make.  Or, we could say, “I will never…..”    Often times, it is “I will never forgive that…..I can forgive anything, but I can’t forgive that!”

“I will never be like……” and we try not to be, but we have closed ourselves off to God’s mercy in that area because we have taken control rather than letting God have control.

A possible way to describe what an Inner Vow does is by describing a train track – this is pretty easy for me to imagine because my daddy was a railroader and was responsible for Maintenance of Way, meaning in charge of the tracks!  Well, when the tracks are laid down, they do not curve all over the place, they go straight through an area…..When we make an Inner Vow, we place ourselves on a track of our will, and no matter if we try to change, we cannot, until we break that Inner Vow.  The way to break Inner Vows is very simple.  We confess it as sin – Ask God to forgive us - and then reject it in the Name of Jesus from our life.  Then we pray that we may be in alignment with God’s will for our life and surrender to His mercy and grace.

Perhaps you may know of someone in your generations that made an Inner Vow – if that is the case – pray that the healing waters of Baptism flow back into the generations to cleanse all areas of the generations from the blockage of Inner Vows made that may affect your life or life of your descendants.
